Welcome to my
Commonplace Book!

In the late Middle Ages, scholars started using “Commonplace Books” to collect knowledge of all kinds. These were not journals, but more like scrapbooks to gather quotes, letters, scientific formulae, and personal thoughts. Famous commonplace books were maintained by Thomas Jefferson, Francis Bacon, Henry David Thoreau, and Mark Twain. Sherlock Holmes himself solved a number of crimes by referencing his commonplace books!

This website isn't so much a blog as my own digital commonplace book where I keep items of personal interest.

I hope you enjoy it!

Enron Building, Houston TX

Enron Building, Houston TX

The Enron Scandal was blowing up in 2001-2 as I was starting to earnestly consider leaving the Navy for Corporate America. While I understood that Enron was a unique blemish on the business world, it nonetheless imprinted upon me a healthy fear of what could go wrong on the outside.

Imagine my surprise when I found myself working on the 11th floor of the Enron Building twelve years later, and at the height of my career no less! Over the next five years I would have some of the most rewarding moments of my career, working in a challenging, yet high-performing environment.

Sometimes everything comes full circle.
